Clothing

It’s important to be comfortable during your time in rehab. One way to stay comfortable is by packing the right pieces of clothing. San Diego weather is consistent day to day with temperatures ranging from 50-degree lows to 80-degree highs.

If possible, pack at least one week’s worth of clothing for this type of weather. Be sure to pack:

  • T-shirts and shorts
  • Sweaters and jackets (for layering)
  • Conservative workout clothing
  • A pair of sneakers
  • Cozy clothes or pajamas for sleeping

Make sure that any clothing with drug-related images or phrases are left behind.

Accessories

In general, accessories should be kept to a minimum when packing for treatment. While wedding rings and watches are more than welcome, expensive jewelry should not be brought with you

Toiletries

In addition to packing clothing and accessories, you will also want to bring toiletries that you can use each day. It’s important to note that other than your toothbrush, all other hygiene products should be unopened when they are packed.

You are encouraged to bring unopened:

  • Toothpaste
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Face wash
  • Moisturizer
  • Lip balm
  • Lotion
  • Sunscreen
  • Women can bring feminine products and essential types of makeup.

You can also bring mouthwash, but it must be alcohol-free. In fact, as you purchase and pack your toiletries, double-check to make sure alcohol is not an ingredient on any item.

Medication

Prescription medication can be brought to Hope Canyon Recovery. All medications should be in their original bottles. As you pack, you should also write a list of all your medications and the daily dosages. This information is very important to the medical team. You are also permitted to bring sealed vitamins.

The rehab facility does not allow you to bring in supplements, over the counter medicines, or narcotic medications.

Important Documents

You will also have to bring a variety of important documents to Hope Canyon Recovery. As you pack your other items, make sure to include:

  • A form of government issues identification
  • Your health insurance card
  • Prescription or pharmacy card
  • Small amount of cash; leave your debit and credit cards behind

The category of important documents can include pictures of people and animals in your life that mean the most to you. Don’t hesitate to pack printed pictures of family, friends, and pets that can serve as motivation and encouragement in rehab.

What to leave behind

Any item that is drug or alcohol-related must be left outside of the treatment facility. When packing for rehab make sure you leave behind any open medications or toiletries as well as excessive amounts of accessories or makeup. You do not need to pack any food or drinks. Electronic devices including smartphones should not enter rehab. No weapon of any kind should be brought into Hope Canyon Recovery.

This checklist should help you pack efficiently and appropriately for treatment at Hope Canyon Recovery. If you have any questions or concerns in the days leading up to your arrival, please don’t hesitate to call. A member of the Hope Canyon Recovery team can be reached at (619) 343-2395
